You Know How it Goes I’ve been meaning to call for some time, it’s true, Now I find your phone is dead and so are you, I’m sorry I waited a little too long, Ah, but you know how it goes ‘Cause you’re gone. We were never that close except that one time, I unzipped your heart for you and you unzipped mine, And in that sacred moment no one was wrong, Ah, but you know how it goes, That moment is gone. Won’t you meet me tonight Down here below, In your pretty, pretty garden Where that old tree grows, We can dance around it, I’ll whisper your name, You know how it goes, It was your favorite game. When I saw you last night you didn’t look good, Cobbled all together like that with wire and wood, And suckin’ from that bottle I may one day sip, Ah, you know how it goes With a morphine drip Now that you have crossed that last finish line, There’s some things you could clear up about the other side, And all he said, I swear it, I’ll swear it all night long, Was you’ll know how it goes, When you’re gone. Won’t you meet me tonight Down here below, In your pretty, pretty garden Where that old tree grows, We can dance around it, We’ll sing your favorite song, You know how it goes, So come on, sing along, You’ll know how it goes when you’re gone, You’ll know how it goes when you’re gone. ©2012 Phillip Rosenberg

These Bones 05:34
THESE BONES I knew all along you’d be comin’ Yes, I got the memos that you sent When you said I’d better be ready I misunderstood what you meant I had it all worked out perfect Best laid plans gone wrong Thanks for the wind and the sirens I could not help but listen to their song I had a dream and you were in it Or maybe it was your dream I was in We were wrestling on the kitchen table I knew there was no way for me to win The painting, why yes it’s progressing, Thanks for the canvas and the frame I tried to draw a wild forest fire it looks more like a puny candle flame CHORUS And the wheel keeps on spinnin’ And The sky’ll meet the ground These bones have always known their destination But I keep tryin’ to turn this thing around Have you noticed that the landscape is changing The trains are running faster every day I hear the old circumfrence isn’t holding I hear the beast is on its way And everybody’s sort of anxious You hear it in the nervous laugh The turbulence is really crazy, but No one thinks its really gonna crash CHORUS And the wheel keeps on spinnin’ And the sky’ll meet the ground These bones have always known their destination But I keep tryin’ to turn this thing around INST I’ve heard we come in trailing clouds of glory I couldn’t really say if that were true I can’t name a thing I’m really sure of I’m not even really sure of you I’m glad you’ve got a sense of humor After all the trouble I have caused After all I just did my duty Wasn’t that what my duty was? Austin 04:40
AUSTIN I thought about you just today And how you used to say “Baby, try to keep the faith,” But faith was never my strong suit, In fact to tell the truth, I never had what real love takes, But there was that one time old friend, I’d like to think you still remember when Every star burned brighter Every load felt lighter Every day was full of sun When you were the only one First fire of the season/ Lying on the floor and teasin’ Late September, Austin was a ball/ Before the fall. I guess its true that nothing lasts Yeah, don’t it go by fast, That fire burned out long ago, It still amazes me to find after all this time How warm these embers glow, Every time I hear your name What comes back to me is always the same: Every star burned brighter Every load felt lighter Every day was full of sun When you were the only one Makin’ love was never better/ Makin’ plans for forever, Late September, Austin was a ball, Before the fall Lovers have come and gone since then, That kind of love has never come my way again, Do you remember Austin at all? ©2012 Phillip Rosenberg
